Membership to Europe Meat Access Committee is open to any company, industry organization or individual with an interest in one or more of the following: meat importing, meat transport (sea and land), meat distribution, meat wholesaling, meat processing, meat retailing and food service or catering.
The Europe Meat Access Committee (EMAC) aims to improve market access into the EU for beef and sheepmeat products which face restrictive, out-dated import quotas with high above quota tariffs. We advocate consumer choice through trade reform.
EMAC membership is free - but carries a responsibility to support EMAC aims and to lobby for red meat access improvements.

A: Sheepmeat imports enter the EU via preferential quotas or by paying import duties. The following have country specific sheepmeat quotas with zero import duties: Argentina, Australia, Chile, Iceland, New Zealand, Norway Turkey and Uruguay. If a buyer considers importing sheepmeat outside one of these quotas high tariffs apply. For example, bone-in lamb legs attract 12.8% customs duty on the CIF price, plus an import tariff of €2,227 per tonne.
